- 1 pound fresh asparagus, trimmed and cut into 2-inch pieces
- 8 ounces mushrooms, sliced (cremini or white)
- 2–3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1–2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 tablespoon butter (optional)

- Pepper to taste
- Juice of half a lemon (optional)
Instructions
- Prep the ingredients by washing the asparagus and mushrooms, then cut them into the specified sizes.
- Heat the skillet over medium-high heat and add the olive oil, waiting until it shimmers.
- Add the asparagus to the pan and cook until crisp-tender, about 3-4 minutes.
- Push the asparagus to the side and add the mushrooms to the pan, cooking until browned, about 3-4 minutes.
- Add the minced garlic and butter (if using) to the pan, sautéing briefly until fragrant.
- Fold everything together, add a splash of water or lemon juice to deglaze the pan, and season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Transfer to a serving platter and finish with fresh herbs or extra lemon zest if desired.
Notes
For added flavor, consider using different oils or adding toasted nuts.
