Description

A quick and foolproof guide to creating crisp-tender asparagus and golden-browned mushrooms with aromatic garlic in just 15 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound fresh asparagus, trimmed and cut into 2-inch pieces
  • 8 ounces mushrooms, sliced (cremini or white)
  • 23 cloves garlic, minced
  • 12 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon butter (optional)
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste
  • Juice of half a lemon (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prep the ingredients by washing the asparagus and mushrooms, then cut them into the specified sizes.
  2. Heat the skillet over medium-high heat and add the olive oil, waiting until it shimmers.
  3. Add the asparagus to the pan and cook until crisp-tender, about 3-4 minutes.
  4. Push the asparagus to the side and add the mushrooms to the pan, cooking until browned, about 3-4 minutes.
  5. Add the minced garlic and butter (if using) to the pan, sautéing briefly until fragrant.
  6. Fold everything together, add a splash of water or lemon juice to deglaze the pan, and season with salt and pepper to taste.
  7. Transfer to a serving platter and finish with fresh herbs or extra lemon zest if desired.

Notes

For added flavor, consider using different oils or adding toasted nuts.
