Ingredients

  • 500 g (1 lb) ground beef (80/20 fat content)
  • 1 tsp kosher salt
  • ยฝ tsp freshly ground black pepper
  • 4 burger buns (preferably brioche or sesame seed)
  • Assorted toppings (lettuce, tomato, cheese, pickles)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the meat by combining ground beef, salt, and pepper in a large mixing bowl. Gently mix and divide into four equal portions.
  2. Form each portion into thick patties with a small indentation in the center.
  3. Preheat your grill or skillet to medium-high heat (around 200ยฐC or 400ยฐF).
  4. Cook the patties on the hot grill or skillet for about 4-5 minutes on one side. Flip and cook for another 3-4 minutes until medium doneness is reached (internal temp of 70ยฐC or 160ยฐF).
  5. Rest the burgers for 5 minutes after cooking to allow juices to redistribute.
  6. Assemble each bun with a patty and your choice of toppings.

Notes

Avoid pressing down on the patties while cooking to keep them moist. You can prepare burger patties a day ahead and refrigerate them.
