- 1 loaf of brioche or challah, sliced into 1-inch thick pieces
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- Pinch of salt
- Granulated sugar for caramelizing
Instructions
- Slice the bread and lay it snugly in a greased 9×13 dish.
- Whisk together eggs, milk, heavy cream, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt until smooth.
- Pour custard over bread, pressing slices to submerge. Cover and chill for at least 30 minutes or overnight.
- Preheat the oven to 350ยฐF (175ยฐC) and bake uncovered for 25-30 minutes until set.
- Sprinkle a layer of sugar across the top and caramelize using a kitchen torch or under a broiler.
- Allow to cool slightly, then slice and serve with berries, powdered sugar, and syrup.
