Description
Warm, fudgy, and intensely chocolatey brownies made from pantry staples, designed for busy cooks.
Ingredients
Scale
- 125 g (1 cup) all-purpose flour
- 40 g (1/2 cup) unsweetened cocoa powder
- 200 g (1 cup) granulated sugar
- 50 g (1/4 cup, packed) light brown sugar
- 85 g (6 tbsp) unsalted butter, melted
- 30 ml (2 tbsp) vegetable oil (optional)
- 2 large eggs, room temperature
- 5 ml (1 tsp) vanilla extract
- 3 g (1/2 tsp) kosher salt
- 2 g (1/2 tsp) baking powder
- 75 g (1/2 cup) chopped nuts (optional)
- 75 g (1/2 cup) chocolate chips (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 175°C (350°F). Line an 8 x 8-inch pan with parchment, leaving an overhang for easy removal. Butter the parchment lightly.
- Whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt until uniform.
- Whisk together the granulated sugar, brown sugar, melted butter, and vegetable oil until combined.
- Add the eggs and vanilla extract to the sugar-butter mixture and whisk until smooth.
- Fold in the dry ingredients until no streaks of flour remain. Add chocolate chips or nuts if using.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top. Bake for 18-22 minutes or until a toothpick comes out with moist crumbs.
Notes
Do not overbake for fudgy brownies; they continue to set as they cool. Use a toothpick to test doneness.
