Description

A flavorful Korean dish featuring seasoned ground beef served over rice with fresh vegetables.

Ingredients

Scale
  • For the Beef:
  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20 blend for juiciness)
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 3 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger (minced)
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)
  • Salt and pepper (to taste)
  • For the Bowls:
  • 4 cups cooked rice (white or brown)
  • 1 cup broccoli florets (steamed)
  • 1 cup carrots (shredded or thinly sliced)
  • 1 cup cucumber (sliced)
  • Green onions (sliced, for garnish)
  • Sesame seeds (for garnish, optional)
  • Kimchi (for serving, optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, heat over medium-high heat.
  2. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spatula, about 5–7 minutes.
  3. If necessary, drain excess fat from the skillet.
  4. In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, minced garlic, minced ginger, red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper.
  5. Pour the sauce over the cooked ground beef and stir to combine. Let it simmer for about 2–3 minutes until heated through and the sauce thickens slightly.
  6. Divide the cooked rice among serving bowls.
  7. Top each bowl of rice with the seasoned ground beef.
  8. Arrange the steamed broccoli, shredded carrots, and sliced cucumber on top of the beef.
  9. Sprinkle with sliced green onions and sesame seeds if desired.
  10. Serve with kimchi on the side and enjoy your delicious Korean Ground Beef Bowl.

Notes

  • Adjust red pepper flakes to control spice level.
  • Use brown rice for a healthier option.
  • Kimchi adds a nice tangy flavor.
