Classic Lasagna

Description

A rich and comforting lasagna layered with meat, cheese, and marinara sauce.


Ingredients

  • 9 lasagna noodles
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 2 cups ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 4 cups marinara sauce
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook the lasagna noodles according to package instructions; drain and set aside.
  3. Brown the ground beef in a skillet over medium heat; drain excess fat.
  4. Add marinara sauce to the beef and simmer for 5 minutes.
  5. Mix ricotta cheese, egg, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
  6. Spread a thin layer of beef sauce in the bottom of a baking dish.
  7. Layer with 3 lasagna noodles, followed by half of the ricotta mixture, a third of the mozzarella, and third of Parmesan.
  8. Repeat the layers, finishing with noodles and remaining meat sauce on top.
  9. Sprinkle the remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheese on top.
  10. Bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes or until bubbling and golden brown.
  11. Let cool for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

For a vegetarian version, replace ground beef with lentils or sautéed vegetables.
